Crew member sues Alec Baldwin, others over “Rust” shooting

 The lawsuit that was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court names around two dozen defendants involved with the film. They include Baldwin who was the film’s star as well as producer. David Halls, the assistant director who handed Baldwin the gun and Hannah Gutierrez Reed, who was in charge of weapons on the production.

 It’s the first lawsuit of what could be several that stem from the October. 21 shooting that also caused injuries to “Rust” director Joel Souza.

 Then he kneeled to aid Hutchins with his hearing impairment and glasses were scratched.

 Gutierrez Reed’s attorney Jason Bowles said in a statement on Wednesday that “we are convinced this was the result of sabotage and Hannah has been framed. We believe the scene was also tampered with before the police arrived.

 Bowles stated that his client provided authorities with a full interview and continues to support them. The lawsuit was not mentioned in the letter.

 The statement stated that they are seeking an in-depth and thorough investigation of all relevant facts, including live rounds and what led them to the “dummies” box.

 Gutierrez Reed said last week that she had inspected the firearm Baldwin shot, but didn’t know how a live shot got inside.

 Halls as the assistant director, said last week that he hoped the tragedy prompted the film industry to “reevaluate the values and procedures” to ensure no one is harmed again however, he did not give details.
